The thermostat regulates the small and large cooling circuit. The large cycle runs over the water cooler. In winter, when it’s cold and you additionally drive your heater, the cooler will not be required when driving normally. If the thermostat does not close properly, the hot water still flows into the cooler and the heat goes to flow. Uphill the engine is loaded and additionally generates heat, the temperature rises.
