Capture card stops producing sound?

I have an Elgato capture card, the model is about 8 years old, and I've been using it for 4 years. I connected it to my Mac running OBS, which transfers the sound for videos, etc., to my Windows PC, but about 2 minutes after I changed the HDMI, the card no longer produces any sound. I also have an iPad connected to the Mac, and as soon as the capture card no longer produces any sound, the iPad disconnects at the same time. I have no idea if this is due to my capture card, the Mac, or something else.

Mac is not my terrain, but what I would do in your place would be to invest a 10 and get me a very cheap CC.

eg the or the or something else from the 100s on the market for small money, then you would not only have certain whether it is on your card, but also substitutes.
