Canon FD 50mm 1.8 aperture broken?

I've had my beloved Canon AE-1 for over a year now. Today, when I pressed the aperture button, I noticed that the aperture doesn't decrease at f/5.6. So, the aperture remains constant even if I turn it higher than f/5.6. I know lenses like these aren't that expensive, but it'd still be a shame if it broke. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

When you look at your camera from the front, a small lever is on the right side of the lens that you can press in, which closes the screen to the desired level so that you can see the sharpening result directly in the preview.

Make this and close and open the shutter par time completely.

If it doesn’t work, it closes as far as it goes and see if it’s oiled, then there’s slung on the slats.

I don’t know.

Hello

  • the AE1 key does only correct when the lock is tight (see instructions)
  • Canon F/FD/FDn optics with cap go on decreasing in “assembly position” the screen is braked/blocked so that the non-flagged from FD with automatic diaphragm position has changed the parking position
  • Oldtimer optics come from a time when they were brought to service every 2-5 years because zb oils and fats separated or resinated by aging. In 70s, however, the “oil-free” optics came with plastic sliding coatings
