There are just as little the best camera settings as there is the best way to drive in the motorcycle. Always aligns after daytime, weather conditions, lighting, lens and what you want to photograph, standing motorcycles, slowly driving motorcycles, fast driving motorcycles?
familiarize yourself with the features of your camera and then try it out. Tv mode would be a good start, ISO on car and then the exposure time so that the motif does not float. For a 50mm focal length, you need at least 1/80 so that the image does not cover. For driving motorcycles but rather 1/500 – 1/1000.
Thank you, how do I get into the settings so that I can adjust it accordingly?
This is in the manual
There’s the first Poblem. You don’t know the camera. That’s a prerequisite. Only if you know the features and know what they do, you can make use of the camera.
In addition, you know the relationships (exposure triangle). A correct camera (in comparison to cell phone) requires basic knowledge in technology…
The conditions mentioned by “Uneternal” are the second hurdle. Weather/existing light, used lenses etc are a big factor in selecting the right settings.
The next factor is the desired target. Do you want to become a driver when driving to show dynamics and speed? Should the pictures look like “frozen”? Or is generally only photographed in the booth?
First, you should go through the instructions and try out the things in it directly so that you can get to know the functions, the way to setting etc. Only then you have a chance to make settings. Then get to know the modes of action (stand or stand at least always in the manual) which causes an open or closed aperture, how the exposure time affects, and which the iso is connected with it…
If you then know what your image should look like (journey, frozen at fast motion etc, basic requirement for selecting the right settings) you can also adjust the camera in this way…
So instead of just rushing into a shoot with some hints, you should consider and understand the absolute basics and the technique. Otherwise, the shooting becomes a setback because nothing works, or only by chance, and you are disappointed… This is not, after all, “baking cakes”, but rather more demanding, as you always have to respond to changing conditions and adjust yourself or settings directly…
Take your 500D into the hand, if necessary also the operating instructions and worked side by side, make comparison photos in between to learn causal and effect.
In addition, for almost any DSLR, there are specialist books that go beyond the lead and describe valuable tips for special motives and recordings and represent them with corresponding images.
otherwise a highly complex technical device does not bring anything if you are familiar with it and only by the handy fully automatic cnipsen “controllable”
