Can you use a spinning rod for float fishing for trout?
Hello,
I'd like to go fishing today, but I only have a spinning rod, and drop shot fishing isn't allowed at the moment. So, my question is, can I just use a suitable rig? I don't need to cast very far, since I want to go to a stream/river.
Of course, why not? At least if it's not too deep, since spinning rods for streams aren't particularly long.
Ok great thanks for the answer.
Could you recommend another assembly for me? I'm more of a beginner…
And does it matter if I use a braided (yellow) line as my main line and then tie the float with trout line (monofilament) or do I have to use the monofilament as my main line too?
Just a round float, some lead, and a hook. There are water balls that you can attach to the line. These are good because you can quickly remove them and then fish on the bottom. Braided line isn't good because it floats, and then you end up with huge bends in the line.
