Can you hear that I'm using a cheap microphone (my own song, music)?
Hi.
I chatted and chatted a bit with other producers and artists on Discord today. Pretty much everyone said I should definitely get an interface, XLR mic, and so on.
I don't think the quality of my current one is that bad. Can you tell it's a cheap €20 microphone from Amazon? I think this song is the best mix I've done so far; how it sounds raw isn't important.
For such a slightly trashy/intentionally tinny sound, it's not bad, it's fine as it is.
For starters, it's actually completely fine. I don't hear anything that's particularly noticeable or that would justify getting a new one.
If things get more serious with music at some point it would be more worthwhile, but that's actually good.
Yes, it swallows too much and doesn't sound clean.
You only need an XLR if you're using a mixer. Without a mixer, I'd recommend a Rode nt usb plus—around €129 new, half the price used.
What software are you using? Is the autotune a plug-in?
Thanks. What exactly do you mean, "it's swallowing too much?" I also took quite a bit out of the lows and low-mids in the mix, because they're boosted so drastically by the mic.
I use FL Studio and yes, AutoTune is a plugin here.
By the way, I've heard about the Rode NT-USB; it's supposed to be really good. I'm just not sure if it might make more sense with an interface. And I don't have any money for the next few months, so I'll probably stick with this one.
I understand what you mean, and I'd still use the Rode. I have it myself and connect it via USB, even though I have a powered mixer with an XLR connector. I've been playing live music for over 20 years and would use the Rode at home, preferring to save up for it.
Okay, so a lot has changed in FL since then XD
Oh okay, awesome. I didn't know it was that good. I guess I'll just save up for it, thanks.
I also have a theme in FL Studio (21) that also changes things a bit. But yeah.
