You need an English radio license. This includes about 60 phrases, which you could easily learn by heart. And you can manage the filler words in a communication even with a grade of 3. However, you do have to understand what's expected of you.

In addition to my English at school, I also spent six months at a language school. I don't know how that's handled in civilian training.

Airlines don't really care about your grades these days. No one sits in front of you and says, "Okay, we'd like your report card now. Oh, a C in English, you can go right away."

You take a test, and if you pass, you're fine. Your grade is irrelevant.
