Can the statutory notice period be extended verbally?

I had a salary discussion with both supervisors two months ago, but unfortunately, the outcome was unsatisfactory. Only a 2% increase. This was documented in writing.

Now I've landed a new job and just need to resign from my current employer. A question arose to me.

Would my two superiors be allowed to simply claim that the notice period had been extended due to a verbal contract? After all, there would be two of them and I alone.

I received the salary increase in writing, nothing else is stated.

The termination periods in the employment relationship are governed by § 622 BGB. An extension of the notice period can be agreed in principle, but this must be done in writing in order to be effective. These results from § 623 BGB, which prescribes the form of writing for the termination of employment.

A change of contract would have had to be handed out in writing, § 3 NachwG.
