Can the data on the hard drive still be saved?
Good day,
I have a Toshiba external hard drive. Since today, it seems to no longer work. When I plug it in, the hard drive quickly blinks blue and makes normal noises.
My Mac also recognizes that it's connected. But when I click on it, all I see is the "Charging" symbol and text. It's been like this for hours. Trying a different cable hasn't helped either.
Does anyone know what can be done?
Most likely the data can still save but hours wait was not a good idea because in time the MAC tries to repair an author. What’s going on? https://disk-doctor.eu/blog/index.php?t=chkdsk_feind_meiner_data
Checkdisk is the DOS/Windows item to fsck but the two tools work pretty similar…
If the record can no longer be read, you should use a Linux cloning (ddrescue or DE) and then with tools like DMDE, r-Studio or UFS Explorer try to save the data.
Why not go directly with DMDE? So: https://disk-doctor.eu/blog/index.php?t=was_fit_bei_datenrettung_mit_software
If the data is important, a data recovery laboratory should be running! They have significantly better possibilities and if the HDD is not yet too much to be justified, the costs are usually manageable…
