Can I use the power supply from my 2070 Super for my new 4070 Super?

Hello, my question is whether I can use the power supply of my old 2070 super in my PC for my new 4070 super

Greetings Janis

The 2070 draws 175W, the 4070 Super 220W.

If the power supply is not 6 years old, it should fit. Otherwise, a current and more efficient would make sense.

This depends on how much watt your power supply has, the 4070 Super consumes about 50 watts more than the 2070 Super (but still depends on the model)
Just look at the power supply as much watt this has, Nvidia recommends for the 4070 Super a power supply with minimum 700W total power

As long as your PC has not been configured at the absolute limit, it should also work, but a view of the power supply would not be bad

That should work. The 4070 Super only consumes a little more.

What power supply do you have?

If it is actually a 550 or 650W power supply, it would be recommended to upgrade (so the power supply) because we are already at the upper limit of the power supply depending on the other components (power supply is also less efficient and louder than with less utilization)

Not in the operating system itself. Look at the bill or open the PC, it's on the side of the power supply. But if the 2070 Super ran, it should be the 4070 Super too. It only consumes about 15W more. In doubt, the computer would just go out, a beQuiet! – Power supply has corresponding protective devices. Then you know you need a stronger power supply. But I don't think it's necessary.

The Pure Power are efficient power supplies.

As I said, keep it, the computer goes out, buy a new one.
A Pure Power has enough protective circuits. In the case, your computer is just going out.

I'm really sure. If that thing ran with a 2070 Super, it'll be with a 4070 Super.

Then wait until you buy a power supply somewhere unconsidered.

What power supply do you have right now? Only the info will ultimately decide whether it could hold the load.

And why do you want to upgrade a 7700X? He'll be fine with a 4070 Super.

Such an Nvidia recommendation is also based on the fact that many people have integrated power supplies. But he doesn't have a MARS or Xilence network, he's a queue!

Like I said. 84% utilization under full load is no problem for a beQuiet! power supply.

Nvidia itself recommends a 700W power supply, myself I would recommend the efficiency compared to 800W

Can be good, but a 650W power supply would only be at 84%. There's every BeQiet running! Power supply. A Pure Power has an efficiency of 92.7% with such a configuration.

If he has a 550W power supply, switch.

If he's got a 650W power supply, I'd run it like that.

If this is not the case, the power supply (and in rare cases also the other hardware) can be damaged, power supplies generally do not like to be at 100% operations and are both more efficient and leaner if you allow them to breathe some space. The 15 watt difference can also be far more than 15W depending on the model

*But it won't burn through because beQuiet! actually has good protective devices. In doubt, your computer is simply going out.

With a 4070 Super and an AM5 processor you are at a 650W BeQuiet power supply at approx. 80-83% load when your computer is under full load. This also gets a middle class Pure Power from BeQiet!

I can't imagine you have a 550W power supply, then you'd have had problems before.

No the graphics card does not break, but the power supply could break, your PC could turn off when playing and if (which is rare or you have a very bad power supply, your power supply can burn through it under circumstances your other components damage)
It is definitely not recommended to operate a 4070 Super with 550W or 650W

Never change a running system. If the PC is running without any problems, it will most likely be using a graphics card that consumes 15W more. And if it's not, he can still upgrade.
