Can I use my laptop as a monitor for my PC?

Hello, I now have a good PC and also a great laptop, unfortunately I only have one monitor that I use for my PC (gaming etc.).

I wanted to start streaming, but I don't have a second monitor to watch the stream on. I want to stream games, and my question is, can I just use my laptop as a second monitor? To watch the stream and chat? I don't have any alternatives. We usually have very old Dell monitors, but they're from 2005.

I currently have a gaming monitor with 165hz and 1080p resolution.

My laptop only has 60Hz but a very good resolution.

Not directly,
Almost all laptops offer monitor outputs but no inputs.

You could use a capture card to bring an external image onto your laptop monitor, or if your PC streams the image you could put it on the laptop.

But with input lag and other issues, it would never be as good as a real monitor.

You can get simple FullHD monitors for free these days.
Even cheaper used.

It would probably be easier to connect another monitor to the PC and then combine and send the stream on that.

This allows you to pseudo-duplicate your ad if necessary, but not expand it.

and this is exactly where you should start.

Connect the old Dell to your computer's graphics card.

Even if it only uses DVI-D or perhaps the old VGA port, there are adapters available commercially that allow you to convert from VGA or DVI to DisplayPort or even HDMI.

You don't need a Hyper Monitor to follow the chat and watch the stream. It's enough to see what's going on. And you can do the rest on your main screen anyway.

Of course it's possible…

It doesn't matter to your RX6750XT where it should output what it processes.

In any case, the card should have 3 display ports and 1 HDMI.

If the old monitor still has DVI D connections or connection, then this adapter would be here —> CLICK for EBAY

Exactly the right one. Are there other ones you can use, for example, to go from VGA to the HDMI port on your RX.

The best thing is that you can then set up everything on the OS so that the unimportant things are always shown on the old DELL and the important things on your Hyper Moni…. it's all possible.

Let the lap top be lap top 🙂

That would only work if you used a capture card. But that would add at least 100ms of delay.
Almost no laptop has its own dedicated video input.

Yes, you can, as long as your laptop can display an incoming video signal. Most of these devices cannot .
