Can I still fill this aquarium with water?

I received this aquarium as a gift a few years ago. After using it as an aquarium, I used it as a mouse cage for a while. After the mice died, I moved it to the basement. It's been there for some time now.

Now I would like to use it as an aquarium again and am wondering if I can still fill the aquarium without it falling apart because the mice have gnawed at the top layer of the silicone.

Can I safely cut off the top layer of silicone and re-glue it, or would I still run the risk of the aquarium breaking apart?

Thank you in advance

Hello,

the risk after it was used dry for so long, or if I were too big, I would rather buy a new basin

Very often the silicone of the seams does not really seal off after a long dry life.

But you can try it. Put the aquarium on newspaper paper, fill it completely and leave it standing. You'll find out very quickly at the newspaper whether there are leaks. If it remains dense for a few days, it will also be dense for a longer time.

Try out. When licking, you simply pull the silicone seam.
