Can I avoid joint pain while dancing?
To get some exercise, I play at least 30 minutes of intensive Just Dance a day, but unfortunately I'm doing less and less of that because my ankles still hurt from the day before. All the moves like jumping, jogging, and kneeling are painful. It doesn't feel like I'm overexerting myself; if my ankles didn't hurt, I could move for a lot longer. That's why I always do a leg day workout beforehand, but unfortunately it doesn't make much of a difference. Could it be because I've had very little exercise before and my joints need to get used to it? Or am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can do to improve this?
All movements that include jumping and knee bending exert a great load on the joints. Maybe you should modify these moves to some kind of low impact so you can avoid these painful upsets.
Until you can do the dances correctly, you should strengthen your muscles. With the Leg day you’re on the right track! But it’ll take time. Be patient.
Either you just exaggerate it with your workout or your ankles have a problem that can let a doctor clarify but not hurt.
You should let that go of an orthopaedic. Maybe you already have joint damage.
