Can deleted WhatsApp chats be restored at any time after backup?

Hello, the following:

I just made a recent WhatsApp chat backup, so all my messages are backed up to this point.
However, if I delete certain chats now because I don't need them right now, can I access these deleted chats if I uninstall WhatsApp after a few months or more and re-download it? Because they should still be saved, right? And thanks to the backup, they should reappear even after months or whatever period of time (?)
