Can arsenic be released from a string of lights?
The following situation exists: on the window in the room opposite mine, there is a string of lights in the shape of icicles, clamped into the curtain holder.
I love to air out the room for long periods with the windows wide open. I did that several times in that room. This time, the powerful wind from the draft (again) slammed parts of the string of lights into the window groove with massive force. With that kind of energy, any delicate LED bulb would immediately crack from the inside, if not be completely destroyed along with all its layers. Many poorly manufactured LEDs contain arsenic in the form of gallium arsenide phosphide. Shouldn't this impact grind the arsenic in the LEDs to powder and cause them to escape from the damaged casings?
Thanks in advance.
You can hardly talk about “Mengen” here.
The bit of arsenic that could actually emerge(!) will also not be worse than any other toxins that are in our air anyway.
As so often, the amount makes the poison.
Here we go Federal Environment Agency with further information.
No, the LED does not decay and will not be ground.
In addition, it is hopefully clear to you that the stuff is present in an LED only in microscopically small quantities – and then in the air would be diluted by orders of magnitude.
Arsen is also fatal and carcinogenic in microscopically small amounts.
I don’t know how to believe that you can grind the interiors of the LEDs
There are a number of unanswered questions.
You can check that arsenic is needed in the production of LEDs on Wikipedia.
Whether arsenic as a final product component also lands in the LED: I don’t know.
How much arsenic is in an LED: I don’t know.
However, those who have mental problems with the thoughts described in the question should do better with this type of use of LED light chains.
The Nocebo effect must not be underestimated in this respect. š¤·
Also, the image that characterizes those small lambs as “not weathering resistant”.
Yeah and?
There are some for inside and outside
Reading is helpful.
But if the light chains hang out, your problem will be solved by itself
Then there is no problem
Also taking into account your question history:
Keep her down and well. You seem to suffer psychologically. This is not mean evil – just a conclusion from what you ask and extreme.
With the hanging of the lights you get at least a part of your peace of mind.
You will never get a 100% safety certificate here, if you want to remain honest as the answer to it – just missing information.
Except: With any technique especially with everything that leads to electricity, you have to deal smoothly – and do not seek a solution to how to bypass the point if you cannot or do it.
They hang inside, and are therefore unstable.
