Can a teacher at a vocational school let an adult student stay longer?

Hello folks,

There was an incident at my vocational school.

I am 22 years old and doing an apprenticeship, the rest of the class is also between 18 and 24.

Today we had another teacher substitute who told us that he was going to give us homework in class and if we didn't finish it we would have to stay until 5 pm or longer until the homework was done. Normally we finish work at 3:55 pm

So I'm definitely not staying any later than 3:55 or 4 pm I'm an adult, and if work ends at 3:55 pm, I'll leave. I don't have to stay after school or anything; it's just homework.

Is the teacher allowed to do something like that and force someone to do it? Anyone who doesn't comply will be punished.

Good Morning,

no, legally the teacher cannot arrange a longer stay.

You can go home.

But then don't complain afterwards that you're badly graded due to unfinished performance. Because the performance (or refusal of performance) must of course be evaluated accordingly by the teacher… This would then not be a “felt” for walking, but the assessment of (missing) performance.

I also know this from the vocational school. I had to sit down because I came to class for a few minutes too late, only 1x, otherwise I was always on time and had super grades. Don't understand why you're being punished as an adult.

He gives you more time to do the tasks. Of course you can do without it and go, but then only that which you have done so far will be evaluated.

Hello Tommy Lorenzo,

No, of course he can't.

He violates a right that you also have of course.
Best regards, Tomo

This, of course, is not possible, but this will make the note of this work badly.

No, that's ridiculous too, you're not in primary school
