It’s got nothing to do with games.

In tube monitors and OLED displays, images can burn if they have to display this image permanently (unmoved or almost unmoved).
Therefore, there were screensavers at the time and this is also necessary in OLED technology.

Normal LCD/TFT monitors do not have the problem.

Note: This is why also be careful with OLED smartwatches. Especially here, too little moves on the dial – so that graphics can burn faster here than for example in an OLED PC monitor with activated screensaver.

With my tube screens – be it TV or computer monitor has never burned anything. That was in the ancients of the 80s. I forgot to turn off the video text overnight – there’s nothing wrong.

Yeah, if it’s a still picture. Appeared my tablet for many weeks (IPS Screen) and the Android surface has burned easily. When used normally, it is certainly not a problem.

Yes, but very unlikely. Even with OLED monitors, this is as good as no problem anymore and is quite unlikely with LCD.

So with the tube monitors it was so that still images could actually burn in, as is sometimes the case with OLED today.

But with LC screens, it’s rather unpredictable.

Especially since it only burns when the pixels are not “in motion”.

But idr’s hardly gonna happen today.

Neee, at least the chance is not so big with the new computers. But earlier, with the tube computers, that was the case, and that’s why there are screensavers…

This also happens when you watch the same TV station. I used to see the VOX logo even if I had set other channels.
