Can't sleep before your first day at work?
Hello,
I'm starting at a new company tomorrow. I'll be on-site for the first three weeks for training, and then I'll be working from home. I have to take the train to the induction, leave home at 6:45, and be home around 6:00-6:15 p.m. It's an hour's drive there. I'm really scared of tomorrow and can't sleep at all. I have to get up at 6:15 a.m. Do you think my body can get through the day with a little less sleep? I've never been in a situation like this before.
Thank you in advance and “good night” 😉
I wish you good luck for the first time.
This is quite normal and will be time. Look at 1-2 funny videos on YT and sit down so you can get some sleep. You may be tired at some point in the day, but you might be able to drink a coffee (even if you don’t like it otherwise) so you’ll get a bit more down.
Thank you. Was now also 2 weeks home – had quit and had to leave, so I was awake for quite a long time at night. Hopefully, it’ll be okay.
Yeah, that should work. If it’s okay, take a shower and go to bed. If you put the alarm in the train tomorrow, you may have another half hour of sleep.
Thank you, let me have a “release bath” at 20:00 – probably not so helpful.
Hello, I know the situation and say: yes, that’s normal. Be it before the first day of school or just normal Monday. Or just in your situation of newcomering in a job. You can’t sleep with MUSS anyway. So you’ll probably sleep less today and it can be that you’re not so tired by the excitement tomorrow. That’s what the body does. But later on the day you’ll probably get tired and then you’ll sleep more automatically next night. There are many new impressions and this is an exceptional situation.
You can’t force yourself to sleep anyway. It only works if you are relaxed. Just lie as unobstructed as possible, then you’re asleep. It’s gonna be okay and a lot of success in the new job!
Thank you very much! I hope I’ll be fine.
