Camera broken because of employee?

Hello folks,

I bought a camera at Saturn. At the checkout, the employee dropped the camera on the floor. The camera was, of course, in its original packaging. But I'm worried that something might have broken. I bought the camera as a birthday present, and the person who bought it won't open it until the beginning of April.

The camera is the Rollei Compactline 880

What do you think? Would you trade it for a new one?

Best regards, Mimi

At the checkout, the employee dropped the camera on the floor.

What do you think is what a packaging needs to do on the sea route from probably China to Europe? And only in the area of a camp? They don't break as fast as they do.

If the packaging looks harmless in itself, I do not see any significant problem.

Even if it is to be defective, the legal liability for defects in property initially intervenes, the burden of proof being the seller for the first 12 months. He has to prove that the camera was fully functional when it was handed over and not you that it wasn't. With such favorable products there are probably replacements.

So: does not work, then you go to the dealer and pull this card. What doesn't mean, somebody can hit the hammer and then hit it when it's broken.

You have to be a little more spontaneous. I would have said that they should bring you another.

If you're coming back with the story, it's kind of cringing. But as far as I know Saturn has a withdrawal without reasons within 2 weeks. Give it back and then go to Media Markt. Or here on Ebay:

ROLLEI Compactline 880 Digital Compact Camera Black, 3 compartment opt. Zoom NEW OVP | eBay

On the other hand, such packages are well protected against falls. Usually there should be nothing.

I would have checked the camera immediately on site and called for a replacement.

If the employee drops a sensitive electronic device at the checkout, I would insist on getting a new one.

Now you can't make a meaningful and credible explanation. If the thing is in April without function, then bring it back, but then it will be proven that this mechanical is damaged, you will see that.

I would have exchanged them directly. Later there is only unnecessary work

I would have had another original-packed camera on site and not bought it. Afterward it is now difficult and the opening of the packaging and functional test must be waited before something can be complained.

You can't prove that the employee dropped the camera. I would rather try to make use of a right of withdrawal and return the sealed goods and buy a new one in another business. But it remains the culmination of the dealer to take back the goods that were not bought online.

I wouldn't have taken her with me, but asked for a new one.

Why didn't you ask for replacement immediately?

What if she's broken? How can you prove that you didn't break it?

And how can you prove in doubt that you didn't drop her?

Well, I'd try to change it as soon as possible.
