This is what you expect Third Kepler Law out. The orbits of two different bodies which run around the same central body are always compared.

As the comet runs around the sun, you take a planet that also runs around the sun for comparison. A hint is already in the task: The AE (Astronomic Unit) is to be used as a length unit of the Gr. half axis, i.e. the Gr. half axis of the ground path. How long the Earth needs for a circulation, we know. So use the earth’s data and the specified recurring time of the comet in the equation to dissolve according to the half axis of the comet.

(b)

The specified distance in the Perihel and the desired distance in the Aphel together yield the large axis, i.e. twice the large half axis.
