C13 cold appliance plug cross-section?

Hello

I have a subwoofer and would like to place it closer to the wall, so I'd like to buy an angled C13 cable. The standard cable has a cross-section of 1.5mm². Unfortunately, I can only find angled ones with a cross-section of 1.00mm². The subwoofer has 1500 watts. Would the 1.00mm² cross-section be harmful to the device, or would there be a risk of the cable catching fire?

The losses in the cable depend on the length of the wires. The longer you want to make the wires, the thicker they have to be to have acceptable losses.

Only in extreme cases, i.e. very high load on very thin cables, the whole is also hot.

So if the cable is short and not too thin, then there is no problem. In fact, up to the 1970s, 0.75mm2 was used for extension cables. The problem is that the cable gets thinner and more often bend (roll up and down) and then fires can occur. Therefore, today you prefer to take the double (1,5mm2) to be sure that nothing can happen in the long term.

So, as a connecting cable, you just put 1× in and “forever” and do not trample around the 1mm2 are completely sufficient.

A normal cold device cable is designed for 10A, you only use half of it. So one more reason you’re on the safe side!

Yes 1qmm is easy.

The power input of the subwoofer is no matter (because music is dynamic and amplifiers use capacitors to store energy, the rated power consumption is usually lower than the RMS output power), you should know how much power actually flows.
