C drive filling up?

Hello, I have a problem with my C drive, which has 500GB of storage space, and I only have the operating system and a few photos on it. The 450GB of storage is full. I've defragmented it, run virus scans, etc. I've also looked for any games stored on it, but there's nothing there… what could be wrong?

Then run the data carrier cleaning incl. System files from

And depending on how many photographs and what format they are, it goes…

This photo can quickly prove 200MB today

Then it will be time to analyze where much storage space will be used. The TreeSize Free can help.

Depending on which programs are installed, 500 GByte can take up how many system restore points and also be packed quite quickly in many photos.

It’s helpful to see who actually takes the place.

Also the system files? (For this purpose, a separate button under the selection window is provided in the window for data carrier cleaning. In addition, installation packages are also removed from updates/patches that usually stay on the hard drive and quickly eat a lot of storage space.)

including the system files? This is also where temporary files and sometimes backups of the last update are displayed?

And… have you chosen everything or just left the preselection?

It would also be interesting which Win you have installed and which programs.

See how much storage space you take and delete those you don’t need

I don’t know. I don’t know what you’re doing

Depending on which programs are installed, their temporary files will also be exploded. Recovery points and and and

On the notebook I have 174 of 175GB left and I have a lot of installed and on files that “Otto-Normalo” has not on it

Two ideas to search for

  • Look for a file called “C:\pagefile.sys” and see how big it is (is a “protected system file” and therefore hidden in the Explorer view option by default).
  • Delete browser cache

Are you sure that you’ve occupied 450GB and not 450GB of free space?

then download the TreeSize and analyze where the space is consumed.

Open Start Menu and enter cleanmgr. Then clean everything plus system data.

If you have very fast internet plus fixed IP and portoforwarding plus software that is communicating to the outside, it can also be that you have been hacked. Usually, fud/hidden FTPs are then placed on the computers and downloads are offered. Storage folders of things are mostly /Windows/… ; /System Volume Information/ or /RecycleBin/.

Probably the backups that Windows (I’m running that it’s WIN) is creating for system recovery. But don’t ask me where they’re hidden today.

C:\System Volume Information

It was also my first thought, the recovery points.
I’m using Avast Cleanup because I’m too stupid and lazy to look for every week, and there’s a lot of it!

Couple photos? Photos can need quite a lot of storage space.

Otherwise, disk cleaning will make including the system files.

Then do what I wrote.

Then you might have installed something that saves space.

I’m pretty pragmatic about that. Install my system, new instead of looking for the mistake forever.
