BVG strike, can I deduct taxi costs from my taxes?
Hello everyone.
And once again, public transport in Berlin is on strike. Since I don't have a driver's license or a car, I rely on buses and trains. Can I deduct the taxi rides to and from work as an extraordinary expense, and what do I need to keep in mind? I would appreciate detailed answers. Best, Silke
No, you cannot deduct them as extraordinary expenses.
The only possible approach would be to claim it as business expenses. However, the general principle here is that the travel allowance covers all expenses incurred for travel between home and the primary place of work.
Unfortunately no!

No. For journeys between home and the primary place of work, the flat-rate travel allowance applies.
Are you self-employed? Then yes, up to an unlimited amount. Are you employed? Then no, or only 30 cents per kilometer.

Wrong, see Section 4 Paragraph 5 No. 6 of the Income Tax Act. Simply put, a self-employed person can only claim the flat-rate travel allowance for travel between home and work.
take the S-Bahn and ride a scooter
