Buy GPU without PC?

Hi everyone,

To sum it up: I'm planning on buying a PC. So far, so good. However, there's a problem: I was actually expecting an RX 6600, but today I found an RTX 2070 in the classifieds for €200 (€16 less than the new price of the 6600), and it's better than the RX 6600. I'd buy all the other parts new.

  1. Problem: I'm generally scared of buying such "valuable" items from classified ads. Things like getting ripped off, or the GPU arriving and then not working…
  2. Since I think that's a pretty good price, I wanted to get the GPU right away. But I only have a laptop at the moment. I don't have a PC with which I could test the GPU when it arrives. So, if I have all the parts for the PC two or three weeks later, assemble it, and then find out that the GPU doesn't work, I've… screwed up. Because there are no warranties or anything like that on classified ads anyway.

Now the question is whether I can, should, or want to take the risk, and whether it even makes sense. Should I perhaps just wait until prices drop after the Nvidia 50 series drops? (Waiting until the "summer slump" isn't an option for me. I'm tired of working/playing with a laptop.)

I'd actually be quite grateful if someone would finally buy it from me (MSI GF63 Thin-10UD). I'm already getting a great price for it in almost new condition.

Anyway. I could also send in my initial configuration. Maybe someone has an idea for other components:

Ryzen 5 5600X
Powercolor Radeon RX 6600 Fighter
WD Blue SN580 1TB
G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200 2x16GB
Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite V2
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
Phanteks XT View
be quiet! System Power 10 550W ATX2.52

It's a budget build. I want to stay under €700 if possible.^^

Hello,

in the budget you can do this:

700 Euro New | Wishlists Geizhals Germany

You don’t even need a used graphics card

LG

For configuration:

From the idea of buying a B450 motherboard today, I can only advise you. You will not be able to use features like AMD Smart Access Memory and PCIe 4.0! B550 Boards support these features, are more up-to-date and now have quite low price.

The board offers all the necessary features & out-of-the-box compatibility with Ryzen 5000:

but today have found an RTX 2070 for 200€ (i.e. 16€ less than the new price of the 6600) and better than the RX 6600

In terms of performance, the cards are virtually identical, but the RX 6600 is more efficient. I wouldn’t buy the 2070, especially since you’ll find the RX 6700XT needed for the price

Problem: I generally have shots, before buying such a “worthy” thing on classifieds

And that’s good too!

It can be easy that a graphics card is stable enough that you can install, for example, Windows but cannot use the Graka.

If you can’t try something like a PC or a graphics card on site, you can’t buy it from classifieds or the like.

You could do something against direct fraud, but you’re absolutely defenseless if you don’t test it.

On classifieds, many fraudsters are on the go, so be careful, the paradise is for fraud. I would advise you to buy it from the dealer or test it directly on site at the seller and only then pay. Otherwise, the risk is there to be cheated and or pulled over the table something too big for the money. Mfg and good luck with it, John.
