Bundeswehr planner?

Good day everybody,

I just had my interview with the scheduler. I applied for a 15-month FWDL (Foreign Military Service) as a mountain infantryman or regular hunter, starting October 1, 2024. If relevant, my fitness level is T1, and no limitations were identified during the interview.

Now the scheduler told me that I could completely forget about the Mountain Infantry and the Jäger troops due to a lack of available positions. Instead, I was offered the Panzergrenadier (a tempting move), and that would only start in April 2025 (which is way too far in the future). That would be a position as a scout/reconnaissance soldier.

Actually, I only want to use it for the purposes stated.

The questions now are:

1. I read that FWDLs don't fill positions, and that the statement "The position is full" would be nonsense in this context. Is that true?

2. The deployment and a quick start are very, very important to me. I've also read online that you should consistently insist on your wishes and "threaten" that you'll no longer consider joining the Bundeswehr if you don't get a placement in your desired assignments. It's often been described that you get the call a few days later and, mysteriously, there's suddenly a spot available for you. Do you have any experience with this or any opinions on whether this is actually the case.

I'm not sure whether I should gamble or not. I would really like to serve in the Bundeswehr, but in the specified assignments.

Btw: He already "looked into it" and said that even if I applied as a SaZ student, it would look exactly the same.

What is your opinion on the situation?

Somehow, each soldier has a post and an FWDL is entered somewhere in the hirarchy on a post and there is a group leader, a train guide, etc.

The mountain hunter is not trained throughout Germany, is also on hand.

Can’t say it’s family tradition and you just want to do that.
If they can’t offer you this, you won’t find it together.
