Budgie is unsocialized, should I keep it alone?
Hello!
I have a budgie male that was hand-reared. At first, I kept him with another male, but it didn't really work out. I then got two hens, but he's still completely alone and doesn't want any contact with the others.
As soon as the others even move, he's afraid of them. I've been experimenting with him for 1.5 years now, trying out what works best…
He only wants to be with me, and when he tries to contact the others and talk to them, he immediately turns away as soon as the others try to respond.
I don't know what to do… should I get another hand-reared budgie? Should I leave him alone? Or maybe I've been wondering if a cockatiel would be better for him?
Your waves from hand-breeding are misprinted on people and will never get clear with other waves. He thinks he’s a man or you’re a waver, depending on that.
Either you can hold him individually, with a lot of contact with you or you can find someone who can keep him according to his needs.
Ideal would be an older lady with a lot of time for him. They’d be happy.
This wave is very socialized.
He was extremely strongly influenced by his specific reference person (breeder who has fed).
Such waves are unsuitable for breeding or even posture elsewhere.
For such a wave-sittich remains the time of his life on his first feeder.
This shaft would never have been released.
Or even better, it is not possible to do any hand-breeding without a good reason.
You can’t change this situation now.
I wish you a happy hand for your waves.
Best regards

That’s stupid! Then you can’t separate Wellis from his mother, that’s the same! The little one is totally fixed to me and with the breeder I could not establish a special bond. You can’t always talk about general, not everyone is equal. I wanted a few tips and I didn’t want to hear what I was supposed to be doing wrong, he’s doing fine with me and trying to make it right.
Don’t worry. I have been attested to total unawareness, although I have my own wave-sittich blog and I am admin in a wave-sittich group with over 5000 members. It’s funny you haven’t fired me there yet. 😉
If you know everything better, you can do what you want.
I can only guess from a nymph.. it is even bigger and more dominant..
a further hand-breeding will help nothing if it is just as fixed to a person..
evtl can you give him your own volunteer and take care of him a lot more
My Wellis all live in one room… take the other three out? I can’t let Voliere live together.
Then maybe give one to someone who has a lot of time for him
