Broken brake line C180-model year 2008?

Hello, we just had a problem with the rear axle suspension… Mercedes covered the replacement because it's a known issue and there's apparently a corresponding ruling (Mercedes lost the lawsuit). In this context, it was discovered that the brake lines are also damaged (our car is a 2008 model and has 167,000 km on the clock). Mercedes doesn't want to cover the costs (€500-600).

Now I'm reading that this is (partially) the case. Is it worth it, or does it make sense, to try to get at least some of the costs reimbursed?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Hello,

that is a typical Mercedes problem for generations; already the old barter (1968 to 1976) had problems and everything that came from 123er to W202 and W211 to the 204 C model satisfactorily. Mercedes hasn’t done anything for decades, as in the case of rust: they have always and will always do it.

Often, the brake lines can be removed and greased or only partially renewed to the manageable tariff, which can in no doubt also be free operations. Mercedes likes to replace the whole axis – it doesn’t make a free workshop. Find someone in the area.

In the case of special culminations, Mercedes has been the most generous manufacturer in all since the rust problems of the W210 about 20 years ago and sometimes goes on in the case of cars up to 15 years old, but only if the cars are used to such an extent and are well kept from their condition to their age and rather not wear. You can try it through the dealer (I don’t know what you’ve negotiated – maybe you can renegotiate it through the special rail magazine).

Brake lines may be corridored after 13 years. It’s not beautiful, but not extraordinary. I guess your chances are low.

Corroded brake lines are wear. Mercedes has no reason to accept any costs. But you’re not forced to let Mercedes do it. This can be as good as any good free workshop, but probably cheaper
