Buy glasses online based ONLY on diopters?

I actually only wear contact lenses and have never worn glasses. I know my prescription for my contact lenses. I only know the diopters of -3.5 on both sides and the BC value of 8.4.

When buying glasses online, you're supposed to specify the cylinder, axis, and pupillary distance. I haven't been to the eye doctor in at least 15-20 years, but I go to the optician almost every year. According to my eye doctor at the time, or rather, my memory as a 10-year-old, I have astigmatism, but I don't think I have special contact lenses. Can I still just buy glasses online with my -3.5 diopters? The glasses are supposed to be for emergencies, or if I want to watch a bit of TV after removing the lenses, etc., so nothing long-term or something I'll wear for hours. I've read that "incorrectly fitted" glasses supposedly don't do any harm to adults… so it would be enough if I just stated my diopters, right?

You can’t take the values of your contact lenses for glasses.

1. Contact lenses sit directly on the eyes and are therefore always somewhat weaker than spectacle values.

Two. You don’t know if and how your astigmatism has changed with the years. Your optician must have made a visual test. Or never? Has he always published new CL to you, to buy?

3. with the glasses, with these diopters, your exact pupil distance indication is very important, otherwise you can see distorted and unclear. Also important is the viewing height and the corneal vertex distance (the distance from the eye to the spectacle lens).

All this can only be measured on your nose with the new version in your place of residence.

You can ask him if he does a vision test for glasses. Otherwise, please go to an optician in your residential area. And there you can also ask for the best glasses.

It won’t work. Just leave it and go to an optician.
