Brake pads worn out?
Hello, my dears
I have a question,
It's about my car.
My brake pads are worn out, most of all on the front left side. I keep hearing strange noises (squeaking) as if something were hanging on the ground and rubbing. It's strange to describe, but it only really starts in the evening. After that it stops again and gets quieter. The moment it gets really loud, I feel like I can't brake properly. It feels like it's jammed. I always have to stop for a moment, turn the engine off and wait, and then it works again, no noise, nothing. The front left brake pads are completely gone and my brake disc is also completely scratched, or rather looks completely scratched. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about it. My appointment at Jacobs isn't for another week.
Unfortunately, I don't have any tread depth left either. Front right and left.
All three brake pads are fine except for the left front one, and this noise only comes from the front. When I press the accelerator, I also hear a squeaking noise, or rather, as if someone were whistling, over and over again, even if I don't press the accelerator and let the car roll.
My question is, can I continue driving like this now? I still have a week until my appointment. Unfortunately, my car isn't displaying any notifications. I've heard that when the brake pads are worn out, you get a notification, but unfortunately, my car isn't displaying it. My car is only two years old, a brand new Audi Q8.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Unfortunately, I have to drive to work every day. And I'm afraid to drive around like this. Thank you in advance.
Let the car stand or drive directly to the workshop.
You can’t drive a week.
In the best case, only a small stone clamps in the brake system, which must definitely get out so that there is no more damage.
In the worst case, you didn’t just drive the lining down the front left, but you already destroyed the brake disc so you can change it right away.
The age of the car does not matter, but the km and the way of driving. And if you say your profile of the tires on the front axle is already down after 2 years, you either drive extremely much or wrong.
Without pictures of the brakes, no one can say something exactly.
But as you write, you don’t have a cover on the left and it’s rubbing metal on metal now. You can’t go any further.
The brake has two brake pads, but only one is a sensor. Thus, it cannot display anything with the other.
You need to call the 24 hours emergency service because of your problem with the brakes. They can say more.
