…usually, employees of the transport companies should have “free ride”…at least if they are service trips and trips from or to service….for purely private trips it may be different.

Do not exercise your activity on board. Pilots and flight attendants also do not need a boarding pass if this should be the question.

You don’t need any service. Private trips officially require a ticket.

However, as I have understood, the drivers and inspectors will let their colleagues go free of charge. This does not happen anywhere but there are companies where it happens. What can happen is that the drivers of other companies in other cities also take the drivers of other businesses and cities. I’ve seen how a tram driver from Berlin in uniform got into the bus in Leverkusen. The driver asked about the service card and the BVG could take a free ride. Officially, it is not allowed, but the drivers do it anyway.

What can happen is that you can officially ride free of charge. My uncle drives trams in Melbourne (Australia) and can drive free by bus, tram and train throughout Victoria. In Victoria all those who work with the companies responsible for the ÖPNV are therefore: Yarra Trams, Metro, V/Line, CDC Victoria etc. This is also the case in the head office and administration.

With us they are allowed to ride in conjunction with the buses – with the train no longer and beyond the connected area
