Border controls from September 16th – rail traffic?
Regarding controls at all German borders starting September 16, I'd be interested to know what will happen with cross-border rail traffic. Theoretically, it's possible to stop every train at the border and conduct passport checks on all passengers. Will this actually be done?
How is that supposed to work? A ICE with hundreds of travelers? Or on the highway with strong traffic? I just went by car in the Black Forest and could just go through two border crossings, there was no one. How to quickly get competent staff to occupy all border crossings like before?
When I arrive at the ICE from Basel SBB to Germany, the train is often controlled by several federal policemen on the route from Basel SBB and Basel Bad BF, as this route is very short, the police have to run very quickly through the train. The federal police has an agreement to control permission to Swiss soil on the train, which therefore controls the route Basel SBB – Basel Bad BF as the station Bad BF is still in Switzerland and thus refugees do not come to Germany. Conversely, when a ICE goes to Switzerland, control takes place on the route from Freiburg – Basel Bad BF.
At the IC from Stuttgart or Singen to Zurich or at the EC from Munich to Zurich, there are also controls, but rather Swiss police and customs are beamed.
I do not know whether border controls are taking place there, as Switzerland is not an EU country, of course there are controls.
I hope so, but no, the traffic lights do half things… don’t finish.
The federal police will go through and control.
I hope so. Even better if everyone had to get out. Full pass control (pass is scanned as at the airport and all databases are requested). All persons and luggage must be by scanner.
How long should that take? 400 passengers (more or less) must then be illuminated. Every train.
And who pays the staff? And the damage to the DB?
And what does the data protection say about your wahnsense idea?
It can be paid out of tax funds if you are insane projects. Data protection has extensive exceptions for police measures also under the GDPR. In practice, trains are already controlled in Turkey when they come from Bulgaria.
