Bone-like lump on thumb, orthopedist has no idea?

Hello, I've already been to the dermatologist and the orthopedist, and neither of them knows what the lump on my thumb is. The x-ray was normal, and the orthopedist says it has nothing to do with the bone, so it's not a tumor, etc. The lump doesn't really hurt and feels bony, but it isn't, otherwise it would have shown up on the x-ray. Has anyone here ever experienced something similar?

It is one of the finger end joints that are normally affected by osteoarthritis, but it can also be overloaded by work, etc.
