BMW as a beginner's car? Any other suggestions?

What do you think about a BMW as a starter car? I have a budget of no more than €4,000 for my first car and I still can't decide which one to get.

I'm open to any car (except French ones ^^) in that price range and am currently stuck on this BMW.

Offer at Mobile.de: http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/bmw-316i-bad-reichenhall/199546493.html?lang=de&pageNumber=1&__lp=1&scopeId=C&sortOption.sortBy=price.consumerGrossEuro&makeModelVariant1.makeId=3500&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&maxPrice=2500&ambitCountry=DE&zipcode=83404&zipcodeRadius=20&negativeFeatures=EXPORT&noec=1

According to the description, the car has some rust spots, but I'm willing to invest about 500 euros for the repair.

I think a BMW with 90,000 km is fine. What do you think about that offer? And can you recommend any other brands/models in this price range.

Thanks.

Don’t let me talk to you. Apart from the taxes and insurance I cannot judge, as I do not live in Germany: if you like such a BMW, why not. There are people who only drive 6000km a year, they don’t have to stand around for years if he only has 90’000 on the clock. Rear drive is the only true drive for cars. We older calibers all started with rear drive. And the engine is not really good, as was written here, and the age is also in for a BMW. However, you would have to get a similar running performance for 4,000 euros, which does not sit on a pile of rust. Look a little further on the car platforms and take someone who knows about cars while watching.

Why BMW? BMWs only drive the old grandpas. If you want a sturdy car, you’ll survive in winter. BMW’s rear drive makes winter harder.

You’re gonna break your first car anyway, believe me. Even though only a slight incident will be, or you will be etched in the curve and therefore embrace the next tree.

For this reason, I got a Honda Accord and I am fully satisfied.

What do you say to a BMW as a beginner car?

completely inappropriate, because heck drive and much too expensive in procurement and maintenance.

at 400€, you get one in the best case, who is slowly buzzing in front of you, and that is, you don’t get the next one.

then rather invest the money in a smaller car that you can drive 4-6 years

car well maintained, driving impeccable, 2 rust points rear door left, fender left

by the way, as mentioned: on 05/2015 you can’t get a good time!

and “goodly cared for one-way free” is also a very great description. is “you are coming from A to B”

4.000€

However, you are right with rear drive and maintenance.

I think so. Better a somewhat younger car and smaller (less maintenance). There are many cheap and solid cars that do not look at a person and are therefore favorable….

yes, a rear drive is completely unsuitable and far too expensive 🙂

no, it was not spoken by 400 but 4000 euros …

  • a rear drive is extremely unsuitable for beginners. you are not here at need for speed

  • 12 liters consumption in the city and annual staging of over 150€ and insurance contributions beyond 2000€ are too expensive. unless you can cash…

  • with 500€ you don’t get the rust away either. door .. ega. but the rust on the fender professionally eliminate (and therefore I don’t mean a backyard workshop of mehmet) will cost around 1500€

nrw…

I just entered my data (and I’m close to 35) and I chose SF0… that says the security comparison, 2200€ a year

I am currently driving a renault clio with a 2L machine and would pay close to 1200€ if I had SF0

€2,000 for the above model? Where do you live him?

It’s quite old. And has a lot of space. Always make taxes so expensive. Did you ever ask the insurance company what the car will cost you? It’s always a criterion. The two rust points would disturb me a bit. And as a beginner car, I don’t think so pralle

I can only say who you are under 25 bloss the fingers away, you think you pay close to 200€ a month of insurance and super much tax a year and the pluss the consumption is really expensive. I’m a student only had 3000€ and meanwhile my car already had 1 year and no problems at all, so I can really recommend you a VW Polo or golf, not fast optical maybe not perfect but 100% reliable

The tax for a 316i – 330i is approx. 100- 220€ a year. Insurance is much more expensive for a small 40hp polo than for a 140hp BMW ;-). Consumption is not much more than a polo. The BMW engines are also very reliable, of course even if it is always maintained, but this also applies to all other engines.

a BMW with 90.000 km for 4000 € sounds attractive and durable …

whether it is a 1 or an X6 depends on whether it is a good “beginner car” ..

If you like, there’s nothing to complain about running performance. Please consider before you buy him that the pretty much gasoline eats and in insurance is also very expensive.

I’d rather suggest a VW Golf or Seat Leon

A BMW… bring me a workshop. .. I would prefer solid models from Audi. And look at the ccm: the higher, the more expensive in insurance. LG Elfi96

I’d like to know what you’re driving for a car.

I’m driving 7 years of BMW (100,000km/year) and it wasn’t on any of the cars.

You can never say anything like that….

if someone drives a lot of cars, he also knows that it is his “worker” and pays attention accordingly. you care about your car with security and bring it to the inspection regularly. that’s why your next seven years will run perfectly.

the offer that the questioner has sought out was more complete.

15 years, 90Tkm sounds first after “has stood 4 years on the parking lot”. then the rust points that you cannot see on the photos, because it looks totally catastrophic with safety and I got my a. on it that the oil that hasn’t even seen fresh for over 2 years

What is the capacity to do with the insurance premium?

It probably meant the tax 😉

You can’t say that. The amount of the insurance premium depends on the type of vehicle and not on the engine capacity. Capacity (and pollutant emissions) are of interest in the vehicle control.

Beginner car? => VW Polo!

I guess. BMW is unsuitable as a beginner vehicle because the fixed costs (tax, liability insurance, maintenance) are very high compared to smaller vehicles.

For 4000 € you will get a usable VW, Opel or Ford. – The BMW should have further hidden defects in addition to the rust points: wheel bearings, leaky gear, exhaust etc.

Hi, I advise you from a BMW to get you a cheaper car.

Would recommend a BMW E36. In the series I have only had positive experiences and for 4000€ and less you get very good models. The engines are very reliable and stable. The equipment is also usually very good. They are also relatively economical and favorable. Would also buy one with 200tkm! My 316i compact now has 250,000km on the tacho and runs, runs, runs.! Can’t understand what some people have for problems here and the brand talk badly, probably again those who have no plan at all… . Consumption is about 7.5-8 liters (combined). Tax is almost €100 per year. And a little bit of rust doesn’t mean the car won’t get through the TÜV anymore! By the way, spare parts are not as expensive as an Audi… A BMW 316i, 318i or 320i would be recommended.

Example: Total

We cannot recommend a specific car. In our used car test => http://www.adac.de/infotestrat/tests/auto-test/default.aspx we have also tested almost all BMW models. Look at the individual tests. Maybe they’ll help you decide. Realistic used car prices can be found on our websites under “Info, Test & Rat” > “Vehicle purchase & sale” > Used cars.
