You have to know that yourself. I’m not a friend of older BMW models: If the BMWs are over ten years old, they are usually quite problematic; Motors and gears are usually quite stable, the rest can be forgotten – electrics and electronics are susceptible, the spare parts are very expensive and in part the supply is only incomplete – it is a shame as a premium manufacturer like BMW manages this; Mercedes and Audi can do that much better. Otherwise, old BMWs usually have several previous owners – a first-hand pensioner car is rarely found. Furthermore, it is necessary to know that contract workshops are often no longer interested in “older years of construction” and free workshops are therefore overwhelmed. I know why I was driving an E-Class (has E38 and E39 – both very well maintained cars, but unreliable; the seventh “goed so,” the five was the shoot— I gave it at the end with only 108,000 kilometers, because I could not ask for money for this box).
