BMW 116i EZ 2010 buying advice?

Hello everyone,

Through a friend, I've been able to buy a BMW 116i, registered in 2010, for €4,700. The car has a few minor dents, but otherwise it's in pretty good condition. It's got about 70,000 miles on it, and the timing chain has already been replaced. A few other things, like the brake discs, were also recently replaced.

Generally, I have a pretty good gut feeling. But since I'm not an absolute expert, I wanted to gather a few opinions. Of course, it's always a bit difficult to judge from a distance, I realize that.

Best regards

As long as the necklace doesn’t work and the car goes well, I don’t really see a problem for the price.

BMW’s small motors are not really recommended, as are VAG’s.
You’re better off with MB or Japanese.

The E87 often has problems with the control chain and the Valvetronic.

The necklace was replaced, then it’s calm, at least in terms of the control chain.

I would advise you to do an independent used car check at which dekra costs about 100€.

My tip:

No E87 with four cylinders.
