Blue screen caused by USB WLAN adapter?
Hello,
A while ago, I bought a wireless card and installed it on my motherboard. Then I properly installed the correct drivers and restarted the computer.
At first, it worked; I was able to access my Wi-Fi with the card. Five seconds later, I got a blue screen with the message "BUGCODE_NDIS_DRIVER." After that, I returned the device.
Today I happened to find a WiFi USB stick and wanted to test what happens when I try to access the WiFi with it.
After installing the correct drivers for the stick, I had the exact same problem again. I could see the networks listed, but when I tried to connect, I got another blue screen…
I just noticed one strange thing this time. When I connect to a network with a 2.4 GHz bandwidth, the connection works fine without a blue screen.
But this time with the message "DPC Watchdog Violation".
I use win10 pro 22H2
I don't really care about the whole thing, since I only wanted to switch to Wi-Fi for a short period of time. (I usually use a LAN cable with a Devolo Powerline anyway), but it bothers me that IF I ever have to rely on Wi-Fi again, I won't be able to use my PC.
Thanks for your help in advance. 🙂
Both reports, report one inappropriate or wrong drivers.
So I would exact & latest Drivers the manufacturer install to the WLAN stick, no other seemingly suitable, because the manufacturer of the stick should provide a suitable driver.
And since both are connected via USB, of course the USB Driver (chipset driver) of the motherboard also strongly suspected of causing this error.
I would install the current USB drivers (& chipset drivers) from the manufacturer’s side of the USB hardware (mainboard).
Good luck!
