The cut must be big enough to fit the baby through. Therefore, after the imperial cut, one has an approximately 15-20cm long scar on the abdomen (and, much more important: also a scar on the womb).

However, the scar sits so deep on the underwear that it is covered by underpants or bikini pants. And often the scar fades with time.

My imperial section has been over four years and the scar is hardly visible.
