I'm also certain that it's always valid for the first day after the holidays. Of course, I was stopped on the first day after the holidays with the "blue ticket." He slapped a €60 fine on me and other students on the train. I feel like Deutsche Bahn has ripped me off. I can't find anything useful about this topic online.
