Blackout – what to do with the aquarium?
It's been announced that there will soon be a power outage lasting several days, maybe even weeks. I don't know what I'm going to do with my aquarium during this time; they can't survive without oxygen, the right temperature, a filter, etc.
Does anyone have any tips for me?
Pure whistle,
But if you are really afraid, there are these possibilities:
so dear LindaLux, a so-called power failure is always possible. There is no need for some to phantasize from the hurricanes.
In Germany and Berlin and Dresden in particular, there have been shortages of electricity, though only in districts. This is not big public, but it is possible. But, there is an aquarium ventilation probably the smallest problem. Not only would the aquarium be affected, but also heating in individual houses, among other things, the entire electrically powered equipment does nothing anymore.
So it’s attractive to be praised to think about it. Especially if such unexpected, yet shnelly happens, one should already think about what to do.
And yes, power benches keep up a power supply for a short time, but just for USB ports, no heating and cooking. An aquarium then continues to operate as it starts with light and heating, filters as well.
At least over 200 watts. For example, on emergency power units in cities, I wouldn’t build. There are other problems for the inhabitants of high buildings, including water supply etc.
And even if it takes longer, no more fuel for emergency power will be private, if not provided, soon to end.The smallest up to about 2100 watts have consumption at full load of 4 liters with about 6h.
You really shouldn’t be careless.
There are exactly two solutions:
a) a USV – uninterrupted power supply – quasi a large power bank that is connected between the socket and the aquarium.
b) an emergency power unit; this can e.g. when you empty batteries of the USV.
So this blackout – dizziness doesn’t have to scare you. It’s all over. Youtuber always likes to catch up. Especially the influenzers who want to talk Power Stations to you. (small performance with many features)
In the event of a longer-lasting power failure, I have such a USB air pump:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/353671641628?hash=item525878fa1c:g:VvMAAOSw6c1hPwjr
and an airlift filter in reserve. The pump is operated with a power bank and does not have to run all the time.
Thus, at least the filtering and oxygen supply is ensured.
My AQ is in the living room, the room would be heated anyway with the fireplace in the event of a power failure in winter. I would also be clear in terms of warmth.
By the way: It’s always good to be prepared. It is always better to have than to need 😉
Oh, is that? It’s new to me.
Why is that?
But actually, for such reasons, I did an aquarium to Diana Walstad in order not to leave it to the electricity. Bzw Low-Tech Aquarium.
The soil and the plants act as filters. I only use the power for the lamp, I’d have to think about something else.
I’m talking about Austria – it’s pretty sure the power failure will come in the next few years.
I hear that first, you got a link? bin tirolerin
If you have a time left, you can deal with the Diana Walstad or other low-tech systems, or something. Or do you have a solar panel or something?
It is best to simply enter Blackout Austria, then many results come. Here is also a link:https://blackout-news.de/information-zum-blackout/wann-Kom-der-blackout-oesterreichisches-bundesheer-hat-die- Replies/
Where did you get that?
“Blackout” is nothing but a thought experiment, if everything in the infrastructure etc. would no longer work and usually finds space in conspiracy theories.
LG
You’ve been saying that for a long time, and nothing has happened. But you could look on YouTube to find out how to build a DIY aquarium filter that does not consume electricity
Where did this have been announced except on any vertebral pages?
Has anyone announced?
How big is the pool?
80 litres
What? 🤪
