Black mold in a baby bottle… Dangerous?
So my sister has a baby bottle, and I recently found black mold on the inside rim… And there was a lot of it… It’s probably been there for a while :s … My mother is really worried 🙁 Do you think that the mold can ”settle” in the intestine??? Or remain in the organism for life???
Thank you for your answers in advance 🙂
mold is very dangerous for baby ́s, it can get strong belly cramps and diarrhea. So get away with the bottles! The new ones should be “cooked” after each use at the latest after 5 uses, then nothing can happen at all.
It probably won’t have late. However, I would like to make an intense thought about where the mold comes from! This also includes a certain “unclean” behavior!
It comes from the fact that we have put fruit juice in, although it was in the guidance that only water should be put in it;)
These instructions are not there for fun (as a rather unreliable consumer you should trust that the manufacturer knows what he recommends)! If we’re already on the topic: The instructions to pour tea only with boiling water should you take seriously too, as Babies have already died because their tea was still germinated with salmonella!
Then the fruit juice was not just a few hours in there!
mold is dangerous to all because of the formation of poisons that are sometimes very strongly carcinogenic – it is not too late!I do not know whether it is possible to colonise the intestine, especially since it can be quite different in Babies than in adults. Ask the doctor. In any case, you should also pay attention to better hygiene, let the doctor or the midwife advise you!
With some bottle types, this can unfortunately happen. Especially in juice and in summer it is quite fast.
We had it years ago, but I can’t remember my daughter getting sick after that. The gastric acid also removes some pathogens.
You can call a pediatrician for security.
lg mel.
“The gastric acid also removes some pathogens.”
If this were the general case, there would be no food infections 😉
“For safety, you can call the pediatrician.”
Good advice!
The gastrointestinal tract and the kidneys of a baby are more sensitive than that of a larger child or Adults.
At Baby’s everything should always be sterile clean.
mold is always harmful to health.
Go to the pediatrician and take the bottle right away.
Then you see what He says.
LG, sheltie
so this should be avoided in any case, you have to screw the lid off while flushing….. but no, it won’t settle there or stay there for a lifetime, but can still have bad consequences in the future to pay more attention to hygiene
No one can tell you that. There are at least 150,000 types of mold fungi. Some of them can trigger the worst diseases, others less… Even a doctor cannot tell you – without making an analysis of the fungus – what the fungus triggers. But surely he can give you something for the child, which “clean” the intestine.
No, no, maybe go to the pediatrician to calm the mother, but that’s so bad I don’t think.
“No in no case […] sooo bad isn’t that I think.”
I always think that’s great when people in health issues are happy to give advice and to spread confidence, even though they have no idea of the topic! This is simply irresponsible!
mold is poisonous and therefore not harmless for a baby. The baby will not hide, at most bad diarrhea and get it. lg
Okay.
“The baby will not hide, at most bad diarrhea and get it.”
I very much hope that this professionally sounded Statement is (speak – are you a nurse?) and not just speculation!
The so-called “Aspergillus fumigatus”, also known as common mold, does not affect living organisms. Through oral intake, the toxins can trigger diarrhea, and diarrhea is very dangerous for a baby or infant IMMER! Whether it is triggered by mold or something else.
diarrhea can be particularly not breastfeeding baby have devastating consequences, as bottle milk does not have substances against diarrhea like breast milk.
So how old is the baby and what had the fruit juice lost in the bottle?
I’ll finish it, don’t worry.
“It should be more likely that the administration should not be allowed to ask such questions.”
That would, of course, be a measure.
Don’t blame me for questioning, it really wasn’t mean bad.
That honors you, of course, but I fear that you can filter who is trustworthy and who is not, that doesn’t go.
It would be more likely that the administration would be forbidden to ask such questions. Technical answers can’t be expected in such a forum…. only reviews.
You don’t have to prove yourself. But it will probably still be allowed to be skeptical when it comes to health issues. I’ve got a pretty bad feeling when someone wipes off on questions like this one first, and I’d rather go to number safe. As I said, if you have the necessary knowledge in the field, it is also necessary to rely on your advice. Only if you look at what answers do for such questions, I don’t think it’s important to know who to trust.
“If the child has symptoms and then you are going to guess the internet and there is a lay forum instead of going to the doctor then there is no more to help or?”
That’s true!
I spoke of my experience as a medic. I didn’t know you’d have to show up here again.
And since the child has no symptoms and was only asked if it’s dangerous, I’ve answered that.
If the child has symptoms and you will then get the Internet to rate and there is a lay forum instead of going to the doctor then there is no more to help or?
1.: This is no reason, negligent people potential to give false advice when it comes to health issues!
2.: If you qualify. You must know yourself.
to 3.: I am well aware that fungal spores are ubiquitary and an infection is more a matter of general constitution.
to 4.: Exactly my speech!
to 5.: This has nothing to do with inflating – here some people give the advice that everything is OK without really knowing it and your profile you don’t see if you have the necessary competence to judge that, so I had checked – to protect the affected baby! I am not a doctor (as I have already noted in my answer), which is why I cannot give competent advice from the medical side here and therefore recommend calling at least the pediatrician. However, I am a food chemist, which is why at least the microbiological side is known to me.
This is a layman forum.
So I’m an ambulance, so I’ve got a little idea, and a mold fungus attack on the lungs isn’t going without symptoms. And that can also happen to you through mushroom spores present in the air, you don’t have to live in the fashionable cellar.
3.The most common result of contacts with mold fungi is diarrhea in infants and they can be dangerous to life and are always present to a doctor if not after 1 day improvement occurs.
4.In doubt always go to the doctor no matter what it is or at least call.
5.Are you a specialist because you’re blowing up like this?
Googlen I can also – and as you can see, the Internet is a bad guide in health issues – here is a quote from the Wiki article on Aspergillus fumigatus:
“In particular, people with lung caverns from previous diseases, but also healthy patients can suffer from aspergilloma mushroom ball that nests in the lungs.”
This is about inhaled spores, but Babies do not yet have a fully mature immune system and are therefore not to be compared with adults!
Again: Are you professionally competent in the field?
By the way, there is something like the “joint mold mushroom” not. Mold fungus is the predominant term for mushrooms that grow as pests on food, including far more species. By the way, not only is the genus Aspergillusbut also e.g. penicillium, Rhizopus, Fusarium, etc. represented
Throw the bottle away. But she won’t get broken. It might get a stomachache and a bad diarrhea. Maybe break a bit.
How long has your sister no longer used the bottle? Maybe she wanted to dispose of them and totally forgot.
Just ask her.
Bottle milk isn’t optimal – but mold? I can’t!
