Black and gray tones appear as blocks? Is the source material junk, or is my screen faulty?
Hello everyone!
I have noticed something on Netflix, YouTube and other streams that I think is worth mentioning:
My monitor (Gigabyte G27Q) displays black and gray tones only as "blocks." Bright areas are displayed perfectly. This effect only occurs when streaming or watching YouTube. When gaming, the image is perfect!
So is it the source material? I've already adjusted several settings on the monitor, and the problem hasn't changed. I've also tried toggling Nvidia's graphics settings or, for example, turning the HDR setting on/off in Windows, but haven't noticed any change.
Is there anything I can do? Does anyone know the problem or do I just have to live with it?
If I stream the same video with the projector it is not nearly as bad/noticeable.
System:
Graphics card: MSI RTX 2070 super (current drivers available)
Screen: Gigabyte G27Q (connected via DisplayPort)
Windows 11
I7-8700k, 32gb RAM, Z370A-Pro MoBo

Oh shit, okay, I understand. Thank you! I suspected something like that. So it's not the screen, but the compressed image that the respective stream sends to save data.
Sometimes it is less noticeable (projector) and sometimes unfortunately more (G27Q).
Thank you ✌️
Projectors have the advantage that the projected colors can blend slightly depending on the screen.
