Bitcoin Lightning Channels comprehension question?

Hello, I set up an Umbrel node a few months ago, but so far it's only been running as a traditional node. You can also install Lightning. I saw in an old Block Trainer video that if you want to use Lightning, you have to open a channel by making a transaction on the main network.

To create a channel, don't I necessarily need another one to which I want to make payments, so to speak? I don't currently use BTC for payments at all, and (obviously;) there's no one in my area who's particularly interested in it. Still, I'd like to try Lightning.

Is it even worth setting up Lightning if it's unlikely to be used anyway, since you don't have anyone who will send a sats and with whom you can create a channel?

If you only pay with it rarely, it's worth using Wallet of Satoshi and keeping a small amount there…

Otherwise just connect to one large node, that should be enough.

It should also be at least 250,000 – 500,000 Satoshi in size if you really want to achieve something…

Maybe you can find something near you:

Lightning is so great because it's a network: you can simply connect to a large one and then reach (or be reached) everyone to whom it is indirectly connected.

(Yes, of course you need someone to whom you have the channel)
