Biology or business administration?
Hey, I'm planning on starting college this year, but I'm not sure what to choose. I'm interested in biology and business administration, but if I had to choose, I'd lean more toward biology. As far as I know, the job market for biologists isn't looking good, so I'm a bit hesitant.
In biology, you need to start thinking early on about what and where you want to work. There are various options and usually individual information events at the university.
If you're interested in economics, that's actually a very good foundation. Many people don't think about it until the end of their studies.
I would recommend that you visit both study advisors and the general student advisory service, and especially ask how you can combine both subjects. You have to take interdisciplinary courses. Perhaps you could combine some lectures or even seminars from the open-enrollment business programs with your biology studies. In my opinion, that would give you the best possible foundation.
Business administration is also one of those courses where, as far as I know, you have to find a career or "make it yourself"—just like biology. So, you're in the same situation in both programs.
As far as I know, business administration is mostly "book knowledge," whereas biology has many practical seminars. This means that if you're already interested in business, you could gather a lot of information from textbooks and then apply it. That would be a bit more difficult with biology. So, of course, you can pick up some of the knowledge from textbooks, but you can only complete the practical seminars and exercises on your own at home to a limited extent.
Biology is simpler and better
Biology is certainly not easier than business administration
It really depends on your talents and prior knowledge. Business administration has intense math lectures and possibly seminars.
Biology has many practical exercises that are not easy for everyone.
Biology has a reputation for being the easiest natural science. I don't know if that's true, or if that's true for everyone. Knowledge from other natural sciences is drawn upon, whereas in chemistry or physics, this is little to none with regard to biology.
In the end, however, a different subject is “difficult” for each student due to their talent, prior knowledge and interest.
In business administration, however, mathematics is the only difficult part, and often it's fairly simple mathematics at that. Business administration and engineering are really very easy compared to most other degree programs. I know so many business students who only study for a few days before an exam at most. Biology, in contrast, is much more time-consuming.
I know some business graduates who didn't have a job after graduating
