A are the mutations. Any genes in the mouse mutate and change the property they determine. This happens “randomly” and only in the individual animal. B is the selection that means that the mouse in which a gene is mutated (e.g. that for the number of legs. Actually, the DNA says 4 legs, through the mutation, the DNA says 3 legs and their next baby mice with this genetic material are born with 3 legs), due to the change are better or worse adapted to their environment and therefore better or worse propagate and survive again and better propagate until all mice have 3 legs at some point because they are better living with it, can procure food, continue planting. Nature selects (seeks) who survives, always the best fit.
