Only through marriage will you become a married uncle.

Before then, you are at best the nominal uncle (so almost simply a denomination, no more).

As I called the best friend of my patenter “Onkel Valentin” during my childhood (I just took some name as an example now). We were and are not related – but so I was taught at that time.

After the wedding, I think.

A relationship only results from a marriage. Until then, you are officially only the companion of life, or friend, the aunt.

No, you’re not. And even after the wedding, you’re just a married uncle. What you do depends on the family and yourself.
