Job interview for IT – training available, but later studied something other than IT – explain why?
I completed an apprenticeship in IT software development and later studied mechanical engineering. Through part-time jobs and self-initiative, I further developed my skills in IT security, and that's what I'd like to do now…
Now I have an interview this week, on-site not remotely, and I wanted to ask how I can justify my choice of studies, because it could be assumed that I would like to do something related to engineering or mechanical engineering after graduation?
My idea: I have a very strong interest in technology, not just software development, but also the technology of how machines work and how they can be controlled, and this is made possible by software solutions in hardware programming…
Can anyone give me further advice on this topic? I can't find much on Google… Thanks in advance! Regards.
My personal opinion from my point of view: only the fact that you have been admitted to the interview shows that you can fill out the written job.
You can justify it yourself. Just say the reasons.
I rather consider the test/test work/practice in the company as more important to get an activity.
I wish you a lot of success and push the thumbs.
Thank you. Well, my internship and my studies don’t have much in common with IT security, so I think this question could come. So why I didn’t study computer science or IT-SEC directly, I wanted to prepare myself a little better. 😉
Just say why you didn’t.
