In itself, I’m a pretty Christmas market fan. However, the price level slowly moves in directions where this is no longer in proportion.

The first “Christmas Market”/Wintermarkt of the year took place on the weekend – with 14 euros in advance, mulled wine is 8 euros per cup, a sausage about 6.

And even though this was certainly an extreme, 6-7 euros per glowing wine would be realistic on most markets this year. The last massive increases in GEMA fees are likely to increase the level. The absurd thing is that the stand operators do not even make real profit. The mulled wine has a profit margin of several hundred percent, but only on standing fees are due for about 500 euros per square meter in the city centre of Hanover at mulled wine stands this year according to HAZ, i.e. at a stand with a few standing tables quickly 15000-20000€, which must first come in. There is no staff included, and neither GEMA. It’s running out of the row.

Then a nice little village Christmas market. No hit, no fire tongbowle or hot Caipi, no carousel, only a favorable glowing wine stand, a frying sausage stand and a few clubs and local artists with tapered and donation can. At some point a trombone choir plays, or a church choir sings, while a senior circle organizes a coffee room… I love such Christmas markets.

And what Christmas markets in southern Germany are especially recommended? Which cities.

I like the mood there. I like the medieval part and the “Finnish village” as well as the “Wäldchen” https://www.hannover.de/Kultur-Freizeit/Freizeit-Sport/Festen-Saisonales/Christmas-in-der-Region-Hannover/Christmas-m%C3%A4rkte-in-der-Stadt-Hannover

I also like to listen to the live music in the medieval part. Of course, I like to meet with friends and family members there to do something together.

I borrowed it, but it was only 1 or 2 times, because it just doesn’t come

No, too much crowd, too much commerce, too many pocket thieves.

This is a pity, Christmas is such a great celebration, but everyone likes it
