Order from Lenovo is shipped from China – is there import VAT?

Hello,

Unfortunately, I find contradictory information.

I ordered a ThinkPad from Lenovo's German online shop.

During the ordering process it was not clear that it was being delivered from China.

The order confirmation lists the net amount and sales tax…no information on customs duties or the like.

The shipment is now at customs in Cologne and isn't making any progress. It's now the second time it's scanned "import," even though yesterday it said it had cleared customs and was now on its way.

Nothing has happened since then.

It was supposed to be delivered tomorrow morning – but it seems that it hasn't been delivered to the destination region (Berlin) yet.

What about Lenovo? Do they cover these costs? Or will the UPS courier still charge me for import sales tax and fees?

……….I would find that odd. Then the "bargain" wouldn't be a bargain anymore – and I would feel deceived. As I said, there was no indication when ordering that it was being delivered from outside the EU.

Thanks!

As with Apple, you will have already paid the charges when buying. That’ll be on the account, too. Customs rate is eh 0%

Ergo will be delivered without further costs.
