Changing careers, from a trained retail saleswoman to an office job?

Hello;

I'm currently in a difficult situation. I successfully completed my retail clerk training in 2021 and received a certificate stating that I was one of the best of the year. However, I wasn't hired by the company afterward and couldn't find a job because things were difficult due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Before I started sitting around at home, I started working for a temporary employment agency in manufacturing at a larger company. Shortly after, the company hired me on a temporary contract. Now my contract expires at the end of the year, and I probably won't be hired due to the poor economic situation and short-time work.

I'm already applying for jobs. However, I don't want to return to retail; I'd rather move to an office setting. Unfortunately, so far, I've had no success, and I'm getting rejection after rejection.

Is there any possibility of switching to an office-based position? What can I do, and what should I include in my application to improve my chances?

I am grateful for any advice.

Probably it is that very many people with a similar biography are now on the labour market… Then you have to step out…

I think you need a suitable training or training for a change to the office. There are several possibilities:
– first look for some job and try to get additional qualifications through evening schools

– if you can afford it, bite in the acid apple and make another training (which can probably be shortened…)
– let the employment office advise you whether you would receive support for further training
At the employment office you can probably also give more tips…

To have better opportunities, you need a corresponding qualification. You’re not trained for an office job.

But not for office managment or industry. These are more demanding training than in retail.

Right, I haven’t read a job ad for a long time. Nevertheless, it seems to me quite awkward to prefer a retail trader (or woman) to a retail trader in the management of a business in the retail trade.

Employers complain that they no longer find specialist personnel, that is a difference.

or simply commercial training… employers complain that they don’t find employees, no wonder.

as stated in the job description retail trader is specified as a condition that fits. Otherwise you will be sorted out directly.

In professional life, it is not a question of sensuality, but rather whether one has the right degree for the job. If you didn’t fly it, you’d get out.

Doesn’t make sense for me… but good

As a rule, companies require at least the medium maturity for merchants for office managment or industrial merchants. In the case of a retail trader, the main school degree is assumed. Office managment and industrial businessmen are preferably used in the office at a retail company.

What about office management? It would also make sense to work in the office at a retail company.
