BeReal without a server?

Hello everyone,

I've been using BeReal for a few years. Unfortunately, BeReal has now started running ads, which I can understand, but it still bothers me. The reason for this is that it costs a lot of money to run the servers, which is understandable. I have no idea about software development or anything that goes with it, so I have the following question: Would it be possible to develop an app similar to BeReal that doesn't rely on expensive servers, but instead stores the images only on the user's device and shares them directly with other devices?
This is probably a stupid question for people in the field, but I would still be happy if someone could answer it.

That would mean that you could only see a BeReal if the device is from the poster. In addition, this would cost the poster a lot of bandwidth and it would also be a massive security risk.

No, you can't. You don't really get around the server costs.
